Kinder Konzerts in the Park

Thanks to the generosity of FRIENDS donors and our amazing partners at Silverwood Park, families can experience a free FRIENDS music education program as part of the Park’s “Drop-In Discovery Day” series.  

Bring the children in your life and join us on August 9 for an afternoon of music education and creative expression in the natural world. Explore instruments up-close through hands-on stations to learn how instruments are made and where musical sounds come from. Try your hand at playing a violin or a cello yourself! Explore sounds in nature with a naturalist and create artwork with an art educator inspired by what we hear. Watch and listen as a FRIENDS of the Minnesota Orchestra teaching artist, Amanda Brieninger, narrates a musical storybook Kinder Konzert of Perfect Square by Micheal Hall including an original score by Chuck Lazarus, recorded by an ensemble of Minnesota Orchestra musicians. Drop-in anytime for activities from 1 until 3PM, the program will conclude with the Kinder Konzert beginning at 3pm along with a live performance from an ensemble from the Orchestra.
