About the event

The American Museum of Asmat Art houses one of the largest collections of Asmat art in North America. In 2007 more than 3,000 Asmat works were donated to the University of St. Thomas and the Museum opened in 2012 in the Anderson Student Center. This special FRIENDS event coincides with the Museum’s current exhibit, Not a Blank Canvas, by Joshua Irwandi, National Geographic Explorer and Documentary Photographer.


Admission and the tour are free, but please register yourself and your guests to help us plan accordingly.

After coffee and pastries, the Museum is a short walk from Irene's house.


Tour Highlights:

45-minute guided tour with Executive Director Gretchen Burau

30-minute viewing of Joshua Irwandi’s work, Not a Blank Canvas, documenting change in West Papua’s (Indonesia) Asmat region.


Optional Lunch:

🍽️ La Grolla, 452 Selby Ave, St. Paul – Outdoor patio dining (weather permitting)
