About the event

The first FRIENDS ACCENT program of the 2025-2026 season will be held on Tuesday, November 11, at Schmitt Music, 7800 Harmony Dr, Bloomington.  The reception begins at 6:15 PM, followed by the program at 7:00 PM.  Tickets are $45 for members and $50 for non-members.

The featured musician will be Kathy Saltzman Romey, Artistic Director of the 200-voice Minnesota Chorale, which serves as the Minnesota Orchestra’s principal choir.  Kathy is currently preparing the Chorale to perform the Brahm’s Requiem with the Orchestra on Friday, November 21 and Saturday, November 22.

Joining our ACCENT program that evening will be Barbara Brooks, Minnesota Chorale Accompanist and Artistic Advisor.  Barbara will play, on piano, passages from the Requiem, demonstrating musical themes of the work, and, additionally, will perform a Brahm’s Intermezzo written at the end of the composer’s life.

A special treat for this ACCENT will be the chance to taste the delicious food offered by Vicki Brunsvold, long-time FRIENDS colleague, and past member of the FRIENDS executive board.

The ACCENT event will be hosted by Melissa Ousley, host of YourClassical MPR and of the Friday evening live Minnesota Orchestra broadcasts since 2019.
